 simplistically great building sets August 12, 2010

Saw these in Chicago at a play center in the new Millenium park....they had LARGE tubs of them....Lots...and lots and lots....and kids and grown ups were sprawled out all over the floor with the grand city scape looming over them as they created new sky scapers and bridges and fantastical ships...Everyone of them having a great time of it....took me an hour to convince Grandpa it was time to go...
So we got this set of 200. It fits neatly in a box about the size of the largest d-ring binder you might use. Yet, this little set expands beautifully into grand buildings and towers is completely satisfying. I think I'm going to get some more anyway. They're cheap compared to the other brand, but made just as well and then we might have enough to share with our kid....

No color to distract, no sizes to negotiate, no preconceived patterns to follow. These blocks prod "builders" of any age or interest to get down with them and start working. From my 2-year-old granddaughter to my 72-year old husband--everyone seems to want to build with them.

These Citiblocks are a great alternative to the much more pricey Keva blocks and Kaplan blocks. I've tried the Keva blocks at museums that had them on display, and these seem to be almost exactly the same.
My boys (8,6,4 and 2) love playing with these blocks. They create things from houses and garages to jails and jeeps. I have used the catalog that comes with these blocks to build a ship and other vehicles. The only problem with the catalog is that it is not a step-by-step catalog, but only shows one picture of the objects you can create. The main issue with this is that the picture is from one angle, and you can't see how the blocks on the other side are supposed to look. Oh well, they're still a lot of fun, and it's even more fun to create things from your own imagination than from a catalog anyway.
For the price, these are one of the best gifts you can get your kids (warning - one box may not be enough!).

As a teacher and parent, I highly recommend these blocks! They allow children to be very creative in their play and it keeps them entertained for hours! Excellent quality, too.

I ordered these for my 3 year old grandson after seeing them recommended as an educational toy. Everybody who visits-no matter the age-ends up building structures with them-ships, towers as tall as my grandson, etc. Even his almost 1 year old brother plays with them. They are so simple but so much fun
