Product Description Build a replica of the log cabin where Abraham Lincoln was born. Commemorative Edition Set celebrates the 200th anniversary of Lincoln's birth. Contains 100 all-wood pieces, including richly stained logs, eaves and roof slats in a special edition collectible tin.
Amazon.com Review K'nex has released the Lincoln Logs Bicentennial Edition to commemorate the 200th anniversary of President Abraham Lincoln's birth. This collector's tin of their classic house-building toy features 100 wooden pieces, including various logs, roof slats, eaves and chimney pieces. Designed for children ages three and older, Lincoln Logs will entertain kids today as they have for generations past. Outstanding Detail and Craftsmanship This bicentennial collector's tin features the sort of high-quality craftsmanship we've come to expect from Lincoln Logs over the years. Each log has been cut from high-quality wood, and stained in a rich brown varnish. In addition, select pieces, like the roof slats and eaves, are stained with red or green coloring. The logs are sturdy, strong, and splinter-proof, which means kids experience sliver-free play. A Timeless, Educational Building Toy Invented in 1916 by John Lloyd Wright, Lincoln Logs might seem out of place in an age of electronic toys and technical gadgetry. However, these simple wooden toys have an undeniable charm that stretches across generations, and remain popular today. They've sold over 100 million sets worldwide. Playing with Lincoln Logs is simple and enjoyable. Logs come in different lengths, and have notches cut into them where other logs can interlock. Smaller children should have no problem handling the logs when playing. More advanced builders might feel limited by the linearity of building with Lincoln Logs. Still, there's enough variety in this tin to construct dozens of cabins, watchtowers and more. Even adults will enjoy the nostalgia while playing with kids. Although they are simple, the interlocking wooden pieces teach kids engineering skills, enabling them to think like an architect would. Log structures also require a little finesse to assemble, which will develop kids' hand-eye coordination and spatial reasoning. Recommended for ages three and older. What's in the Box 100 Lincoln Log pieces, including 87 wood logs, 8 green wood logs, 2 green wood roof slats, 2 red wood eaves, 1 red wood chimney, and instructions.
With Lincoln Logs, your child will have limitless building possibilities. View larger. |

Not Good February 25, 2010 W. Dedman (NASHVILLE, TN, US) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Spend your money on something else. This is a 100pcs set with 56 of them 1" long with one notch. I think we would have to buy 6 of the sets and toss out most of the pcs to make something useful or even close to what we remember Lincoln logs to be.

I ordered these for my nephew. He loves to build things and these were perfect. My order arrived on time and in good condition. Would recommend this seller to anyone.
Need more long pieces! January 4, 2010 Colorado Mom Overall, this is a pretty good set of Lincoln Logs, but as usual with sets of building toys, there aren't nearly enough in one set to really do much with. I am disappointed in the sizes of the pieces. There are tons of small ones and not enough medium or long ones. You can only build one roof with one chimney at a time.
I did not notice any toxic smell, however, so I was happy about that.
Our kids will have fun with these, but we'll probably have to buy more to make them worth it.
A Not-so-American Classic December 28, 2009 Twirpy1 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
My neice loved this toy. I was so happy she enjoyed such a classic. However, I was dissappointed to read on the tin that the product was made in China. Why is an American classic toy based on the American President Abraham Lincoln made in China? Let us make it here in America and I would give it 5 stars all around.
Not like they used to be April 30, 2009 Margot (Erie, PA United States) 18 out of 18 found this review helpful
I haven't even opened the bags holding the wooden logs yet, so won't comment on them. There are definitely fewer of them than the set I had as a child.
The other reviewer who commented on the toxic smell was right - it's potent. Luckily I was buying for myself, not a child. I once bought a mahjong box imported from China with the same smell...2 years later, it hasn't gone away.
The tin is thin and cheap. My childhood set (from the '70s) came in a cardboard tube with a plastic top, and it was infinitely more sturdy than this "collectible" tin. In addition, the top was held on with clear tape that left a thick sticky residue when I removed it. I once bought a popcorn tin at a dollar store that suffered from the same problem.... I didn't expect it with this tin, for $30+. Sad. And I have to add $3 to the price I paid for the tin just for the naphtha I used trying to remove the residue! I also had to be extremely careful, so as not to bend the cheapo tin or its lid.
On the plus side, the logs seem to be better stained than the set I had as a kid - darker and more uniform, especially the green ones. Of course, as I said, I haven't actually opened the bags yet.
