Birthday Present from Grams August 26, 2010 I Love Sandals (La Habra, CA) I bought this for my 2 year old granddaughter in May 2010.
She LOVED her PLAN Toy pouding peg board the one with the happy face in the middle.
She loves this tower too it offers more of a challenge that the Plan toy which was becoming too easy.
When other children come for play dates this is the toy they all go to.
It keeps Emery busy for 20 to 30 minutes at least a few times a day that I have observed while I am babysitting we also enjoy doing it together.
I also bought the click-n-clack car tower which was a hit with everyone kid to adult
I just bought this toy again for our grandson who is turning 1, this might be to difficult for him at first but I am sure if he is anything like my son back in the day it won't take long and I know he will love the balls and the hammer.
unsafe and over-hyped Melissa and Doug toys strike again!! August 15, 2010 NF11 (cambridge, ma) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
I keep falling for the great reviews and the cool-looking packaging, but seriously folks, Melissa and Doug toys do nothing but disappoint and waste money. Their items for babies and toddlers are all made of wood so they are too heavy and dangerous for children that age to be playing with. Of course my son wants to throw the balls around the house once he has gotten tired of pounding them through the mechanism (which we can not let him do on Sundays because of town regulations forbidding construction on Sundays, and this thing is so loud, it violates those codes!) and inevitably hurts someone or breaks something. Melissa and Doug toys should be banned, not celebrated. There are plenty of green toy makers out there making toys that don't kill kids, their parents or their homes. Shame on you, Melissa and Doug. And shame on all the sheep-like yuppies who claim they are such fabulous toys!
Very Disappointing August 4, 2010 Krissi913 (NYC) After reading all of the other reviews, I am begining to think the one I received is defective! I have been happy with every other Melissa & Dough product I have received. The balls are very large considering the size of the openings. There is no way my 13 month old son has the strength to hammer those balls through the holes on top. It takes ME about eight or nine whacks to get each ball throw - and I mean WHACKS. And its noisy as well.I am wondering if either the openings are too small, or the balls are too large. Or both. But overall, this toy didn't work for us.
Too difficult to "pound the balls" my 12 month old lost interest.. July 22, 2010 L. M. Reynar (London, UK) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
Frustrating for my 12 month old to pound the balls thru the holes. It took me 3 or 4 good hits with the hammer, too. Well made...but of no use or interest.
Waste of money May 30, 2010 Kailee Erlandsen (Williston, ND USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
My son got this toy for Christmas. From day 1, my son couldn't manipulate the toy. The balls were too big for the holes (or the holes too small...whichever), making it near impossible to hammer through. Even my husband and I had to use what I would consider excessive force to hammer the balls down. Finally, after months, my son was able to get the through, having to hammer very hard. Then 5 months after receiving the toy, the hammer split in half.
I would expect this toy to have been much better quality. Don't bother with this toy.
